Exclusive! Danny Roberts for Forever 21

BeacauseImAddictedDannyF21post.jpgTeenVogue's favorite artist and blogger Danny Roberts, who was profiled in the May 2010 issue, is at it again! Remember the bags he designed for Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers line back in July 2009? Well, Danny has collaborated with Forever 21 for a series of six T-shirts that will feature his beloved artwork. Five of the tees will be portraits of bloggers Pandora, Fashion Squad, Because I'm Addicted, Style Bytes and Alice Point. The sixth T-shirt will be of two models. Based on the images we were sent, we can't wait to get our hands on them! Well done Danny! Nothing warms our hearts more than seeing fashion bloggers do big things; four bloggers recently designed bags for Coach.

Danny's shirts will be available starting June 2 and will be sold online, as well as, in select stores nationwide in the States. Read on for another look from Danny's collaboration! (Currently NOT available in Malaysia's Forever 21,but you can buy them online.)

What Goes Around, Comes Around For Styleta

styleta.jpg

The fashion nonprofit Styleta gives new meaning to the saying "everything old is new again." Founded at Harvard University, the student organization accepts clothing donations for online sales (which often include designer threads at a steal!), and all proceeds are donated to local charities along with any items that cannot be resold. (Think of it as the extra-socially-conscious version of thrifting.) Recently, members held a dress exchange for Harvard's spring formal. Participants paid $5 or $10 (the former if they lent a dress) to borrow a dress for the evening. In this way, the whole school was able to raid each other's closets, instead of just in an immediate circles of friends!
The buzz around Styleta is spreading fast. They recently won the Harvard 13 Innovation Challenge and are now a recognized nonprofit organization in Massachusetts. The organization is expanding geographically as well: there are currently 4 chapters, including one right here in the city at NYU. Since members subscribe to the "think globally, act locally philosophy," the NYU chapter has chosen homelessness as its raison d'etre, and will be working on a partnership with local shelters. Plan ahead for the launch party this fall which will include a concert with some well-known NYU alum artists: your "ticket" to the show will be an article of clothing to donate. Making a difference being as easy as cleaning out your closet? Now that's fashion we can all feel good about!
